Dean Norris, Old Town Temecula, and the Legacy of Swing Inn Cafe

Updated: May 12

When you think of Temecula, you might think of wineries, rolling hills, or Old Town charm. But what many people are surprised to learn is that one of television’s most iconic actors—Dean Norris, best known for his role as Hank Schrader on Breaking Bad—has deep roots in this city.

And not just as a resident... but as the owner of Swing Inn Cafe, a historic restaurant that’s been feeding Temecula locals since 1927.

From Hollywood to Old Town Temecula

After decades in Hollywood, Dean Norris and his wife decided to make Temecula home. Drawn to the area’s laid-back vibe and strong sense of community, they settled in Old Town and, over time, became part of the very fabric that makes Temecula special.

In 2021, Dean took ownership of Swing Inn Cafe, one of the longest-standing restaurants in Temecula. Known for its brisket platters, BBQ sandwiches, hearty breakfasts, and down-home service, Swing Inn isn’t just a local favorite—it’s a piece of Temecula history.

"I got to a point in my career where I didn’t need to be in LA to audition anymore. Temecula felt like the right move for our family—and the right place to plant deeper roots." – Dean Norris, CBS News Interview

A Restaurant with a Legacy

Located right on Old Town Front Street, Swing Inn Cafe has been serving up comfort food since 1927. Generations of locals have sat at the same tables, sipped the same bottomless coffee, and ordered from a menu that’s stayed true to its roots.

Taking over a business with that kind of legacy isn’t just a purchase—it’s a responsibility. Dean has made it clear: he’s here to preserve the culture, keep the quality high, and make Swing Inn a place that feels like home for locals and visitors alike.

The Local Favorite Still Going Strong

Today, Swing Inn Cafe continues to be a go-to for BBQ, breakfast, and classic American comfort food. Under Dean’s ownership, the team remains focused on consistency, value, and hospitality. Whether you're a Temecula local or stopping through town, there’s a good chance you'll catch wind of Swing Inn as a must-visit spot.

And if you’re a Breaking Bad fan? You just might find yourself eating brisket in a place owned by Hank Schrader himself.
